Advance Notice concerning Certification Requirements - posted on: 02/13/2019

Be advised that effective 1 April 2022, suppliers of hydrographic services to the Government of Canada pursuant to a Hydrographic Services Supply Arrangement will be required to employ either a Certified Hydrographer (CH) or Certified Hydrographic Technician (CHTech), or an alternate certification providing it receives mutual recognition with the Association of Canada Lands Surveyors (ACLS). The ACLS provides the pathway in Canada for certification of hydrographic and offshore surveyors to international standards. By this notice, the certified employee shall be required to participate directly in the provision of the contracted services. The certification process is open to anyone with appropriate training and experience. The CH or CHTech need not hold a Canada Lands Surveyor Commission. Details concerning how a candidate may achieve certification are provided in the Candidate Handbook on the ACLS website at https://www.acls-aatc.ca/offshore-expertise/canadian-hydrographer-certification-program/.
